IVAM – Institut Valencià d’Art Modern

Guillem de Castro Street 118

Valencia, Spain

This exhibition looks to study some of the stereotypes, images and misconceptions produced between the time of the Napoleonic campaign in Egypt and Syria (1798 – 1801) and 1956, when Morocco and Tunisia gained their independence. The works presented emphasise how avant-garde movements created associations with “exoticism” in order to try and come away from the canon of tradition.

ANTONY GORMLEY

group exhibition

Bonnefantenmuseum

Maastricht, The Netherlands

www.bonnefanten.nl

An exhibition program that exists from 2014 onwards, Beating around the bush, is a means for the Bonnefantem Museum to present its collection in an inquiring way. Said collection is brought into dialogue with external works and this edition sees the inclusion of two works by Antony Gormley, STAY VI 2017 and BOARD 2015, that help narrate the concept that man is central to the Anthropocene in so far as it has led to the construction of societal, political and physical structures that define how we live.
