JORGE MACCHI ‘The submerged Cathedral’

solo show

Curated by Laurence Schmidlin

Musèe Cantonal des Beaux Arts - Espace Project

Lausanne, Switzerland

Stemming from Macchi’s fascination with Claude Debussy’s prelude La Cathédrale Engloutie, Macchi connects the number of large windows of the exhibition room with the same number of bells hanging in the Cathedral of Lausanne to create a sound piece whose sounds are created and manipulated by the visitors’ movements through the installation.

‘Push The Limits’

SHILPA GUPTA

group exhibition

Curated by Beatrice Merz and Claudia Gioia

Fondazione Merz

Torino, Italy

www.fondazionemerz.org/push-the-limits

An exhibition that brings together the works of 17 female artists: a symphony of symbols and experiences that allows us to understand other far away realities. The title PUSH THE LIMITS declares art’s ability to constantly push itself to the edge in order to move the axis of thought, perception and discourse. Shilpa Gupta shows “WheredoIendandyoubegin”, which innately questions the nature of borders, how they are over emphasized and the effect this has on communities.

SHILPA GUPTA

group exhibition

MGK

Museum für Gegenwartskunst Siegen

Unteres Schloss 1

Siegen, Germany

www.mgksiegen.de

The exhibition deals with the phenomenon of the cloud from a current artistic perspective. It ranges from the reproduction and transformation of the natural motif to the technical infrastructure of clouds and their affects. Shilpa Gupta’s series “Unnoticed” are part of the exhibition; the photographic works are a reference to the culture of repair, camouflage and adaptation that prevails in the border region between India and Bangladesh.
