Etel Adnan has won the 2020 Griffin International Poetry Prize for “Time”

Congratulations to Etel Adnan who has been awarded this prize for “Time”, published by Night Boat Books and translated from French by Sarah Riggs. As well as being a successful artist, Etel Adnan is an accomplished writer, and in this collection of poems, each poem acts as a small measure of time, a moment in which the author presents us with a continuous discovery of the present.

Second edition XXL Online: Zhanna Kadyrova

Zhanna Kadyrova presents her works at La 58° Biennale di Venezia “May You Live In Interesting Times”.

Get to know our artists’ biggest and best projects with exclusive content from Galleria Continua and the artists themselves. By entering into a large art installation, you enter into another world.

The 2nd edition of Continua XXL Online presents Zhanna Kadyrova and her works “Market” 2017 – 2019 and “Second Hand” 2014 – 2019. Both are projects that have spanned a number of years; in this instance, we explore them in the context of the 58th Venice Biennale “May You Live In Interesting Times”.

“Market” saw the produce of a typical street market made from stone, cement and tiles displayed in the Arsenale section of the Biennale, provoking thought around the notion of art as a tradeable commodity. “Second Hand” held in the central pavilion of the show, is a work that according to its place and circumstance changes aesthetic. Kadyrova used tiles repurposed from a Venetian hotel to make her clothes and linens, some of which, in the typical Venetian style, were hung outside.
