Anish Kapoor’s Monte Sant’Angelo Subway Station opens in Naples on 11 September 2025, redefining the boundary between art and architecture.

Realized in collaboration with Future Systems, the station represents the culmination of more than two decades of work, embodying Kapoor’s vision of a seamless union between art and architecture. Its weathering steel entrances rise from the ground as raw, archetypal forms, evoking both myth and body, descent and ascent. As Kapoor notes: “In the city of Mount Vesuvius and Dante’s mythical entrance to the Inferno, I found it important to try and deal with what it really means to go underground.”
