‘No memory without loss’ is a work that involves a highly viscous industrial oil, adhering to the surface of a disc in precarious equilibrium. If the rotation stops, the composition collapses. Circular motion can only slow down the fall, in an attempt to postpone the inevitable which is doomed to failure anyway. The drops dripping to the ground are the loss that the work must accept in order to exist at all. Presented at the Basilica Palladiana in the artist’s native Vicenza, it enters into an intense dialogue with works by Caravaggio and Van Dyck.
