CARLOS GARAICOA drawing project
Oratorio San Filippo Neri
Via Manzoni 5, Bologna, Italy
10/05/2022 - 15/05/2022
Curated by Maura Pozzati, the intervention is designed by Carlos Garaicoa specifically for this space and reflects on themes dear to the Cuban artist, such as research on urban and architectural space. The exhibition is made up of various moments that intertwine with each other: on the one hand the large sculptures that resemble the scaffolding and architecture of the building, covered with coloured nets similar to safety nets, are a clear allusion to the renovation works in the city; on the other, music: a composition written by Esteban Puebla and interpreted by Mahé Marty will fill the space of the Oratory, while a more dynamic musical version will accompany a video-animation by Pablo Calatayud entitled Oratorio, the last element of the multimedia installation. The organ of the Oratory will be played live on some of the opening days of the exhibition and will accompany the video animation with its notes, to bring a more contemporary look to the history of this building, through a real kinetic energy, generated by the intertwining of lights, colours and sounds.
