The video Animalier was realised in occasion of the project of the same name for the 2019 edition of Arte – Impresa – Territorio curated by Ilaria Mariotti and promoted by the Comune of Santa Croce sull’Arno in collaboration with Associazione Arte Continua, Galleria Continua and many other public and private parties. The project, financed through Toscanincontemporanea2019, sees international artists invited year after year to build relationships with the production excellence of the local area strongly characterized by the tanning industry.
For Villa Pacchiani the artist has conceived a series of works with the support of Alpa, S.p.A chemical industry dedicated for more than sixty years to the tanning sector.
In Animalier Zhanna Kadyrova uses art as the principle of suspension of judgement and as an element of stupor for the viewer. She designs costumes for animals made with a local contemporary material, leather. She brings the balance of reason, through the principal of the absurd, to the breaking point exchanging the roles of prey and predator in the animal chain. She plays on tautologies, she works in a non-didactic way on the mythologies of desire, on the idea of luxury and fashion, on the concept of dress.
