EVA JOSPIN 'Chambre d'écho'

Following the restoration of Atelier Courbet—the only surviving site to feature Gustave Courbet’s painted décor—the Courbet Center has invited renowned contemporary artist Eva Jospin to inhabit this storied space.

In dialogue with the atelier itself and two of Courbet’s works, La Remise de chevreuil and La Source de la Loue, Jospin presents a selection of pieces, including six newly created for this project. Through drawn, embroidered, and intricately sculpted cardboard landscapes—forests, caves, imagined architectures—she constructs immersive, dreamlike counter-worlds. Chambre d’écho invites visitors to wander through these poetic realms, where imagination takes form and the gaze is set in motion.
