EVA JOSPIN 'Chambre d'écho'

L’Atelier Courbet is a place that embodies a powerful imagination in the mind of any artist, French or foreign.

Following the restoration and renovation of this site — the setting of the only painted décor by Gustave Courbet — the Courbet Center invited Eva Jospin, a major visual artist on the contemporary scene, to take over the space.

In dialogue with the studio and two works by the master of Ornans, The Deer Clearing and The Source of the Loue, Eva Jospin invites visitors to discover several of her pieces, six of which were created especially for this project. Forest or architectural landscapes, shadowy caves, and dreamlike natures — drawn, embroidered, or sculpted in cardboard — appear as so many counter-worlds where the imagination comes alive and the gaze can wander.
