group exhibition

Maschio Angioino

Napoli, Italy

A project by Black Tarantella and FM Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea with the patronage of the Municipality of Naples.

This exhibition collects 50 works by 12 artists from the African diaspora and is set up in two spaces of Castel Nuovo: Antisala dei Baroni, the same spaces that were part of the Second International Colonial Art Exhibition held here from 1 October 1934 to 31 January 1935. The exhibition 'Il cono d’ombra', through recognising its host-space’s colonial past, comes from the need to find other conceptual categories (more experimental and less canonical) if not counter-narratives to rethink the historic colonial experience in a changed social political context.
