Susanna Pilar participates in Imagining Black Diasporas: 21st-Century Art and Poetics, a groundbreaking exhibition exploring the aesthetic connections among 60 artists working in Africa, Europe, and the Americas. This exhibition examines nearly 25 years of production by Black artists, showcasing new acquisitions for LACMA and expanding the Pan-African exhibition canon to include artists working along the Pacific Rim. Pilar’s work features alongside nearly 70 pieces across painting, sculpture, photography, and time-based media, highlighting the themes of speech and silence, movement and transformation, imagination, and representation. This project celebrates the creative resilience and cultural reinvention that define the Black diaspora, offering powerful insights into existence through art.
