In collaboration with GALLERIA CONTINUA, Galleria Canesso presents a rare sculpture, created in Lombardy around 1600 in the spirit of Giuseppe Arcimboldo, in dialogue with four site specific installations by contemporary artist Loris Cecchini.
Il Custode dell’Orto, a rare example of a transposition in stone of work by the Milanese painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo (1526 - 1593), stands almost 2 metres high. The sculpture depicts a keeper of a vegetable garden, composed of fruits and vegetables, with his limbs and features made up of a plethora of edible crops. This piece will be surrounded by four works by the Milanese contemporary artist Loris Cecchini who will create, with his now iconic naturalistic metallic structures, a sort of futuristic garden to be protected by the keeper from many centuries ago.
