'Metafisica/Metafisiche 1909-1926'

On view across Milan, the exhibition presents an ambitious exploration of Metaphysical art, bringing together around 400 works spanning painting, sculpture, photography, design, architecture, film, and music. From the founders of the movement in early 20th-century Italy to its resonances in contemporary practice, the project unfolds as a city-wide parcours connecting Palazzo Reale, Museo del Novecento, Gallerie d’Italia, and Palazzo Citterio, and includes works by gallery artists; Ai Weiwei, Ornaghi & Prestinari, and Nari Ward.

Conceived as part of the official cultural programme of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and produced by leading Italian institutions in collaboration with major archives and foundations, the exhibition offers an unprecedented international perspective on Metaphysical thought and its lasting influence.
