The inaugural exhibition of Le Large, Moteur Imaginaire, curated by Cecilia Alemani, brings together masterpieces from the Renault Collection and contemporary art to explore the relationship between humans, factories, and machines. L’Île du Diable, created in 2015 by Franco-Moroccan photographer and filmmaker Leila Alaoui, explores the memory of Renault’s former factory on Île Seguin. In nostalgic black and white, Leila Alaoui captures the faces of former workers and the remains of a factory that was once one of France’s largest, employing thousands of people, many from Africa and Asia, while revisiting the industrial history of Île Seguin and the people who shaped it.
