'Sharjah Biennial 15: Thinking Historically in the Present'

Conceived by the late Okwui Enwezor and curated by Hoor Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah Art Foundation, this Biennial positions Sharjah’s past within the transcultural universe of thought through the presentation of over 300 works by over 150 artists and collectives, in 5 cities and towns across the emirate. The artists contributions have been conceived to critique longstanding understandings of nationhood, tradition, race, gender, body and imagination, all part of the Biennial’s intersectional intention.
