'South by Southeast'

South by Southeast at EMST brings together 50 artists from more than 20 countries to trace a deliberate reorientation — away from inherited Western canons and toward the Mediterranean, the Balkans, Turkey, the Middle East and North Africa that have shaped Greek history as profoundly as any European influence. Drawing on recent acquisitions and the museum's evolving collection policy, the exhibition proposes Greece not as the periphery of Western Europe but as a central node in a wider, entangled region defined by mobility, exchange and layered identities.
