ANTONY GORMLEY. CO-ORDINATE, 2018

A new immersive large-scale installation ‘Lost Horizon’, the piece ‘Co-ordinate’ and other works at Galleria Continua in San Gimignano are explored through photography by Oak Taylor-Smith. Philosopher Marcus Steinweg and art historian and curator Eike Schmidt consider ‘Lost Horizon’ in their essays, while curator Jose-Manuel Goncalves discusses the work and its wider origins in a transcript of a conversation held at the opening of the exhibition.

Antony’s second solo exhibition at Galleria Continua San Gimignano, Co-ordinate brings together a series of works that consider the linear mapping of space: internal, perceptual and architectural. Also on view is a new large-scale installation which uses 21 kilometres of silk-wrapped bungee to make an interactive zone inviting physical exploration.
