KADER ATTIA at the 61st International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia
We are pleased to announce that Kader Attia will participate in the 61st International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia, curated by Koyo Kouoh, opening on 9 May 2026 and running through 22 November 2026 in Venice.
Invited to take part in this edition, the presentation marks Attia’s third participation in the Biennale, following his previous appearances in 2011 and 2017.
Born in 1970 in Dugny, France, to Algerian parents, Kader Attia lives and works between Paris and Berlin. Over the past two decades, he has established himself as one of the most influential voices in the international contemporary art scene. His practice explores the enduring legacies of colonialism, questions of cultural identity, and structures of power, with a long-standing and internationally recognized investigation into the concept of repair as both a political and aesthetic framework.
Working across sculpture, installation, film, and archival material, Attia’s work engages with critical discussions around history, memory, and restitution, offering nuanced reflections on the social and historical processes that shape contemporary societies.
His participation in the 61st International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia further highlights the continued relevance and global resonance of his research-driven practice within contemporary art discourse.
