José Yaque

Yaque's collaboration with nature, the satisfaction and understanding he experiences when contemplating what emanates from it, his collusion with the horizon, are just a few of the references that could shed some light on the meaning of these pieces.

"Minerals" is an extensive pictorial series that Yaque has been creating from a process of alchemical experimentation with natural pigments and latex.

The works are like aesthetic journeys to the centre of the earth, reverence for minerals given their beauty and usefulness.

The artist works on canvas exclusively with his hands to mix colors, spreading them to create a magma-like surface. He then uses a plastic film to manipulate the paint that when removed leaves on the surface wrinkles as memories of the intervention of the artist.
