BERLINDE DE BRUYCKERE 'It almost seemed a lily'

The Museum Hof van Busleyden presents the exhibition by Berlinde De Bruyckere It almost seemed a lily. The show juxtaposes and confronts her series with the sixteenth-century Enclosed Gardens, that are masterpieces of the museum’s permanent collection.

Like a refuge, these Enclosed Gardens create a protected paradise  from external influences. 

The series of textile, iron and wax sculptures are framed with eighteenth-century oak floor boards from the artist’s home. 

Some of the works of this series - in particular Mantel I, 2016-2018 and Mantel II, 2016-2018 - are the result of the collaboration of Galleria Continua with the artist for the project realized on the occasion of Manifesta 12 at the Church of Santa Venera in Palermo.
